The
study involves:
- pre-visit
exercises and background study of rocky shore ecology.
- a guided
field survey, using transects and quadrats, to describe the distribution
of organisms along a high tide - low tide continuum.
- a visit
to the Marine Discovery Centre for a closer look at some of the
sub-tidal rocky shore inhabitants.
- post-visit
manipulation and representation of results, including proposals
of hypotheses to account for observed distribution patterns if
desired

Barwon Heads Bluff,
Barwon Heads, Victoria.
During
your visit.... take nothing but photos,
leave nothing but footprints! |

Heads rock platform is a Protected Intertidal Area so
students and visitors need to be careful not to damage
or disturb organisms unnecessarily.
No
collection of organisms or artefacts is
permitted while undertaking this study.
